Wheelchair Portable
Electric keyboard for nursing home?
My grandma is in a nursing home. I am thinking of getting her an electric keyboard. She actually does not, will not be using any of the electric sounds, beats, and styles. She would only play tunes from her childhood. So something very basic is quite sufficient.
Since she is wheelchair bound, I was wondering how I can get something that is portable enough to store in a small closet, and easy to get set up, and not too annoying for her roommate.
If you have an alternate suggestion, I'd love to hear about it! Thanks a lot!
i used to be a dietary aide at a nursing home. I was fired after accumulating like 4 weeks of paid vacation per year and weeks of sick pay too. It was like I worked 12 months ans got a month and a half free. I used tyo play piano, and a few times played my guitar for people in the dining room of a nursing home. I miss the residents mostly, and the co-workers who thought I was a good person for displaying my musical talents or origionality. If your loved one knows how to play an instrument, it is thier right by (HIPPA) law to let them do what they want. I once got written up for refusing someone a specific diet, when I knew they had a strict diet. Now I know, these people have the right to anything they want. I want her to play play, PLAY! I play guitar too. It is god's given talent to humans who can be entertaining. I hope you understand. I felt my purpose of working at a nursing home, was God calling me to do it. It wasn't about money. It was about this life and preparing, unfortunatly, those for the next life. Entertainment never dies.In fact, ask the administrator, or activites people there, if they can supply one. You know, they have budgits at nursing homes, they can afford things if you go thru the proper channels. Tell her doctor that she's more happy with a keyboard. He can then offer the staff or budgit department ways to get her one, at no cost to you!
