What was a japanese anime about an alien princess who crashed on Earth in a robot-transformer aircraft?
I remember I watched it on video in the 1980's.
Some facts:
-There was always another guy with the princess piloting the robot/aircraft.
-The aircraft/robot was huge and inside of it there were other flying vehicles for various purpouses.
-The transformer robot was boarded by lifting seats from the landing gear.
-The robot was based in a kind of underwater facility with a lifting platform and a very cool collapsable giant platform for take-off and landing.
-The alien race from the princess's planet was invading Earth, every episode featured one evil robot fighting the good robot/in-craft.
-The series was probably 20 to 30 episodes.
Man--this TOTALLY sounds just like Voltron!
This is the one with the princess--and the main robot that broke off into other ones--that were animal-like robots.
(OR Transformers--but no animal robots there)
You know--they've redone transformers and voltron about five different times--varying from the orignial in the 80's,
a CG version I saw on saturday mornings back in '96,
to right now in fact--
on cartoon network, disney channel, and toon disney.
Transformers Cybertroncomes on around 4am--
however--it's not Voltron by any means.
