How to remove very dry, hard grout stains from black slate floor?
I tried and Pads nylon vinegar (no effect). Dried grout months and it is very hard now. Sandpaper works but leaves a white stain. Only patients slow demolition with a putty knife did the trick, but this way it would take years to finish the house. I want to use muriatic acid or electric sander with the polishing pad, but my wife is against it because she thinks it will damage the finish on the Columbian black slate
Ok, so that made a speech in ,,,,, they should be clean ~! your wife is right, sandpaper that rotates with the hydrochloric acid is a deadly combo, I would Try to eliminate as much as possible with a putty knife and then apply a 10 percent hydrochloric acid water mixture. just to soak the affected area while your putty knife to the next area. go back and try to rub with a scrub pad green are not white enough aggressive, wear rubber gloves and goggles (or full wrap around glasses) and not rub. try in an area that will not be visible (area sofa) and see if it changes the color or finish of the slate, before doing the whole floor ~! Make sure you have plenty of ventilation as the fumes acid can burn the lungs.
