Drive Falcon
My auto transmission doesn't want to go in to drive?
Cold mornings i can reverse out of my garage fine, but when i select drive, nothing happens, if i rev it a bit it revs up then clunks in to gear. Not good.
I haven't checked the fluid yet, but it selects reverse fine, so it might be something else??
Anybody got any ideas on what the problem might be??
Its a 2002 ford falcon, 4speed auto.

If there is build up in the transmission, say gunk or something, it may stop it from changing gears. I can tell you from experience that the 2000-2002 ford transmissions have a scraping problem. You will probablly open it and find shreds of metal and broken gears. The problem with these models of transmission is Ford used some plastic parts where they shouldn't have to save money. I found this out because my old 2000 Ford F-150 did the same thing. If the car is still under warranty, you will want to take it in. If not, it can cost you upwards of 1100 if you have it rebuilt.
