Where can I find authentic, or at least a good quality of Harry Potter Gryffindor robes?
Warner Brothers is selling a beautiful "replica authentic ", but costs a hundred dollars .... I was wondering if anyone knows what the next step is? Im trying not to spend more than sixty ... I bought the "deluxe" version they sell in stores and costume target, but adult height was much too large, and the material looked like I was wearing a fleece snuggie ....... so I might end up with the verion children in this way, but somebody knows better? (I'm About 5'4 for the adult / standard sizes normally do fit) ps: if anyone knows of anything thats more 60 anyway, id still interested to check
I would recommend actually doing one or have one made by a tailor or a seamstress for the budget of your suite. You will not find an "authentic replica" for about $ 100-ish in dollars. I would really recommend is to wait you can splurge on a nice to say, Warner Brothers or Etsy or Whimsic Alley. Or you can always get a model of simplicity or McCalls or any other pattern book you want, and find beautiful reeeeallly weighted black canvas (not breathable cotton) and find a kind of cotton cloth like (that's what I used) for the lining. Or sewing yourself or you can take to a professional and get a quote on how much it will cost. I bet it will cost not that much. to make a dress. When done, use a lot of reference images, and watch other people have made dresses. Most people does the line of the neck, sleeves and hood because that's the way the dresses are lined up in Harry Potter. You can get the patch from Gryffindor many places, and outside of eBay. I will still post some links to slightly more expensive dresses. The dress is Alivan I have, and I loooove. I got myself to the line and add my patch, but it was super easy. I recommend buying this dress Alivan, not the dress of Gryffindor, Gryffinodor because the dress is not aligned in the right color.
