I just steam cleaned my couch. Why was the water so brown?
I cleaned my couch today with the upholstry attachment on my shampooer/ steamer. The water was a dark brown! I don't eat on my couch or anything. My husband likes to have snacks on the couch though. And I do have a little baby who spit up on it quite a bit.
I just cleaned my couch back in March. In three months it got that dirty? It just seems like it was rolled in mud or something!
Remember, your clothes pick up dirt throughout the day and transfer some of it to the couch when you sit.
If you live in a city, or near a high traffic road, dust and dirt stirred up by traffic and breezes will accumulate on your sofa when windows and doors are open.
If you have pets in the house, whether or not if they are on the furniture, will stir up dust from the floor that lands on the furniture. Of course, this is caused by people too.
As mentioned above, some of this could be dye.
